What is Business Readiness: What does it mean to entrepreneurial business leaders?
During my association with over 150+ businesses owners and leaders, business readiness has manifested itself as an organization fully prepared for the implementation of a new initiative, process, or systems (like EOS). It focuses on ensuring all aspects of the business are aligned and equipped to adopt the change, which is a concept often not fully understood by some leadership teams.
Business Readiness can often be confused with change management. Both have application.
What are the key differences between the two:
Business Readiness:
Focuses on operational preparedness.
• Ensures tools, systems, and processes are ready.
• Key areas: infrastructure, updated workflows, training, and communication.
• Example: Testing and deploying a new software system.
Change Management
Focuses on the human side of change.
• Helps employees adopt and adapt to changes.
• Key areas: awareness, resistance management, engagement, and sustained adoption.
• Example: Addressing fears about automation through training and mentoring.
In my experience, the leaders and teams who develop and maintain the mindset of “business readiness” don’t fear change. They ensure teams stay fluent to roles, responsibilities, processes etc., while not attaching themselves to them.
One of our key responsibilities as leaders is to eliminate emotional waste, we do this by facilitating good management and leadership practices and processes. How are you maintaining business readiness in your organization?
