Get a Grip Before Year-End: 3 Moves to Finish Strong

It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final quarter of the year. For many leadership teams, this is the season when the pressure shows up—unfinished Rocks, old issues that keep resurfacing, and the feeling that the business is pulling you along instead of you leading it.

That’s why I love the book Get a Grip by Mike Paton and Gino Wickman. It tells the story of a leadership team that looked a lot like many I’ve worked with—talented, committed, but stuck and hitting a few ceilings. The turning point came when the team embraced a simple, practical system that got everyone rowing in the same direction.

Here are three simple things you can do before year-end to “get a grip” on your business:

  1. Revisit Your Vision. Make sure everyone knows exactly where you’re going and how you’ll get there. Alignment creates energy.

  2. Check Your Traction. Look honestly at your Rocks. Which ones are truly on track? Rally around the ones that matter most and finish strong.

  3. Take a Clarity Break. Step back, even for an hour, to think and reset. Leaders who make time to think lead with more confidence and calm.

Year-end doesn’t have to feel like a scramble. With a little focus, it can be a launchpad into 2026. If you’d like a copy of: Get a Grip or just want to talk through how your team can finish the year with strong momentum, reach out for a no obligation chat—I’d love to help.
